Bin Liner
Bin Liner Records
A trading name of Detour Records Ltd

The Detour label is currently run by the dynamic duo Dizzy and Tania. Whereas Tania is stuck in the 1979 Mod Revival, Dizzy has always had his head stuck in 1977 - the punk revolution that shook the World. It’s no wonder then that an entire section of the Detour Records mail order and distribution catalogue is dedicated to Punk and about a third of the mailing list subscribe to a Mod mailing list just for the punk section. Being not terribly impressed with the commercial punk that eventually whitewashed the charts and the crap that followed, discovering some of the less known and often better punk bands of the era became an obsession. He can now claim to be one of the Country's leading Punk collectors and in becoming an expert in tracking down these bands the punk section of the catalogue can claim to have some of the rarest and best punk releases of all time.

It was on discovering the Xtraverts from High Wycombe and realising that there was an entire unreleased album available that Bin Liner became a reality. Not feeling that it was the sort of thing Detour could release with it being a truly specialist Mod label, it was decided that another label should be born. Detour was becoming a pretty well known for achieving a good balance of old and new (ie: we mixed Knave and Exit on the same back catalogue as '79 Modsters The Scene, The Accidents and The Killermeters and the previously unreleased stuff has proved to be incredibly popular.

The Xtraverts were very well known amongst the High Wycombe Punk scene of the late 70s and early 80s, even claiming that one of their 7"s knocked the Sex Pistols off the top of the independent charts (although no actual chart can be traced to prove this fact and we gratefully thank Maria at the Melody Maker for spending two hours looking for us). They were played on John Peel and even appeared on local TV pop show "Twentieth Century Box" with Danny Baker. The Pin Ups "Robbie Left Take That" brought to you by Steve Lamacq of Radio One while the label was in its planning stages confirmed that the '77 sound was still alive and kicking. Bin Liner plans to not just put out the "old stuff" but will also gladly receive demo tapes of any up and coming punk set up. Bin Liner records runs as a trading name of Detour Records Ltd and demo tapes should be sent to the usual Detour address. Bin Liner Records are available retail through the Mail Order Catalogue wholesale direct from Bin Liner (via Detour Records Ltd) or via Plastic Head Music in Oxon.
